DAY 1 / PEMBA – IBO ISLAND
Greetings at Pemba airport. Board on light aircraft for a scenic flight over the islands and turquoise waters transfers you to Ibo.
Greetings and check in your luxury sea-view room at Ibo island lodge**** for 1 night.
Ibo Island lodge has spectacular views over the waterfront and accommodates guests in beautifully simple, yet elegant rooms. Historic colonial mansions with high ceilings have been stylishly renovated to accommodate the lodge with various verandas, tropical gardens and a spectacular roof top restaurant that provides the ideal venue to watch the sun go down. The emphasis at Ibo Island Lodge is on complete relaxation and a base from which to explore this fascinating island.
Probably the most compelling attraction in the Quirimbas, Ibo's 200-year-old ghost town and 16th Century forts make for a fascinating journey to an era long forgotten. The Ibo Island guided Experience (included) provides a chance to interact with the amazingly friendly local people and observe their unique island culture and heritage and a way of life that has not changed for hundreds of years. Wander around the mysterious ruins among forts and ancient trade buildings with many fascinating stories just waiting to be told.
DAY 2 / IBO ISLAND – MATEMO ISLAND
Boarding in the morning after breakfast at Ibo Island Lodge. Yacht and safety orientation, before setting sail and heading north to the islands of Matemo and Rolas.
There shall be an en route stop at the sandbank beach between Ibo Island and Matemo to snorkel. There is also a wreck there that can be dived and snorkeled. During the cruise to the islands, fishing lines will be thrown out to try and can catch dinner!
Arrival at Matemo island around lunch time. Rest of the day enjoying scuba diving, fishing, snorkeling, kayaking and various other water sports and exploring the islands.
Cruising time: 8 NM Ibo to Matemo – approx. 2 to 3 hours during the day
Overnight off Matemo or Rolas Island
DAY 3 / MATEMO ISLAND – MOGUNDULA ISLAND
Morning around Matemo before heading north to Rolas Island, with further dives and activities before continuation in the afternoon for Mogundula Private Island.
Arrival at Mogundula around midday. Mogundula is a small uninhabited island surrounded by fringing reefs. In its interior is a lake with a huge variety of bird life and a beach where nesting turtles can be found.
On the leeward side of the island is a sheltered lagoon and one of the best beaches in the archipelago. Enjoy a range of activities, explore the island and sit by the fire in the evening on the beach to enjoy sun downers and a traditional African beach braai (BBQ) as the sunsets.
Cruising time: 9 NM Matemo to Mogundula – approx. 2 to 3 hours during the day
Overnight off Mogundula Island
DAY 4 / MOGUNDULA ISLAND – MEDJUMBE ISLAND
The next exotic destination is Medjumbe Island heading north via the beautiful bay and beaches of Pangane.
Dive, fish, snorkel and enjoy a range of activities.
From here it is a straight forward blue water sail to Medjumbe Island so fishing lines we will be set out to try and catch dinner or sushi, while guests relax, read and suntan!
Arrival at Medjumbe, a small tropical desert island, around lunch time. Dive, fish and explore. The island a luxury resort will cater for those who wish to go ashore and enjoy a cocktail at the beach bar or enjoy some other activities available at the island.
Cruising time: 14 NM Mogundula to Medjumbe Island – approx. 3 to 4 hours during the day
Overnight: Off Medjumbe Island. Depart around 2 am for Metundo - 40 NM.
DAY 5 / MEDJUMBE ISLAND – METUNDO ISLAND
Arrival at Metundo around 7 am. Metundo along with Vamizi offers some of the best diving and marine life in the Quirimbas Archipelago. Day exploring, diving, fishing and relaxing around Metundo Island.

Overnight: Off Metundo and Quifuqu Islands
DAY 6 / METUNDO AND VAMIZI ISLAND
Spend the morning doing further diving, fishing and exploring around Metundo before sailing to Vamizi. Rest of the day exploring, diving, and fishing. There is also a lodge on Vamizi Island.
Cruising time: 9 NM Metundo to Vamizi Island – approx. 2 hours.
Overnight: Off Vamizi Island
DAY 7 / VAMIZI ISLAND
Explore the islets and reef system around Vamizi Island for the whole day.
After dinner sailing south to Macaloe Island. It is approx. an 8 hour sail overnight.
Cruising time: 60 NM Vamizi to Macaloe – approx. Full Overnight.
Overnight: Cruise to Macaloe Island
DAY 8 / MACALOE & ROLAS ISLAND
Arrival at Macaloe in the morning and enjoy another day exploring, diving, fishing and relaxing around the Island.
Depart from Macaloe Island in the afternoon and set sail for Rolas Island arriving before sunset.
Cruise time: 10 NM Macaloe to Rolas Island – approx. 2 hours
Overnight: Off Rolas Island
DAY 9 / ROLAS ISLAND – IBO ISLAND
Early in the morning before breakfast the catamaran will sail to Ibo. Enjoy breakfast on the way to Ibo Island where arrival is expected around 9 am.
Cruise time: 8 NM Medjumbe to Matemo Island – approx. 2 hours
Check in for another beautiful day and night at Ibo island lodge to explore the magical island or relax.
DAY 10 / IBO - PEMBA
After breakfast, the plane will take you for a fantastic flight back to Pemba and you’ll continue your journey.
The Fly Bridge Power Catamaran offers a level of fishing that is unrivaled anywhere on the East African coast. The vessel is manned by professional captain and crew that all have extensive blue water sailing experience as well as experience of fishing and chartering. There is usually 2 or 3 crew on board.
The Cat will also be accompanied by two x 18ft center console fully rigged fishing motor boats – a welcome addition for the fly fishing aficionados who are looking to set personal best catches.
It is fully supplied with top end trolling, jigging and spinning/popping rods and reel’s with a comprehensive selection of terminal tackle and lures. Those anglers that wish to bring their own personal gear are welcome to do so.
Guest Spaces & Cabins
With 3 cabins that can be either twin or queen-size double beds, it is ideally suited for a range of charters from a group of friends want to go fishing or diving to family holidays or couples looking for the ultimate island adventure.
It can accommodate a maximum of 6 guests in 3 cabins, with 2 separate crew cabins. There are 2 separate bathrooms with electric flush toilet, wash basin & shower with pressurized hot & cold water. There is also a deck shower for rinsing off after swimming in the sea!
Saloon & Galley
The main saloon area has comfortable leather upholstered cushioned seating areas and there is a flat screen TV and DVD player plus stereo and music system for guest’s entertainment.
The Galley is well equipped with a 4 Burners propane oven and stove, hot and cold water, microwave, fridge and separate freezer and plenty of working and cupboard space for the crew to prepare wonderful meals.
A 5 person seating area plus Full Walk-around fly bridge deck with 2 corner seats and front access directly down to the coach roof and front trampoline area or to the cockpit.
Yacht Systems and Instrumentation
The yacht comes equipped with all the necessary electronics equipment you would expect on a charter yacht as well as satellite phone communications systems for emergencies. The yacht has a generator and solar panels and plug sockets for 12 V and 220 V in the main saloon and in each cabin for charging items such as cameras etc. Category A Off shore safety gear, life rafts and life jackets are also of course on-board.
As a Fly Bridge Power Catamaran it offers guests a huge amount of space, with the interior main saloon, rear cockpit area and front trampolines and of course the Fly Bridge area up top available for guests. So if you want a little bit of your own time and space while on board, you will find plenty of it, not to mention you will have just about every beach or island pretty much all to yourselves too!
MEALS AND BEVERAGES
Meals are subject to guest’s wishes and preferences…so we don’t have a set menu available! Food is brought in from SA and supplemented with local produce and seafood. Water, local sodas, teas and coffees are included.
There are chefs too on-board so guests will get a proper culinary experience while on charter.
Price terms and conditions
The price is for the exclusive use of the boat for the enjoyment of six guests
The rate includes:
- Full use of the main motor yacht and the 2 18ft motor skiffs outboard, engines, radios, fish finders and safety gear
- 7 nights in double or twin cabin on the catamaran
- All meals including snacks and picnics
- Water, local soft drinks, tea and coffee
- All on-board equipment and facilities at no extra cost. All activities are included :
o fishing : use of on-board gear and tackle
o snorkeling equipment
o scuba diving
o island visits
- Return aircraft transfers from Pemba airport to Ibo
- 2 nights at Ibo Island lodge in double sea-view room including all meals (excluding drinks), non-motorized activities, guided Ibo visits
The rate excludes:
- Flights and associated taxes
- Alcohol – A drinks list will be provided and pre-orders will be taken for beers, wines and spirits. The vessel will be stocked based on your requests and subject to what drinks are available. You will be invoiced prior to the charter on your arrival. You’re also welcome to bring your own bottles.

A refundable caution is requested for the use of all equipment available on-board $1.000 per cruise
There will be no refunds for a weather affected trip.
